We treat spider veins with Asclera.   Asclera is a medication that is injected directly in to spider veins, which causes them to collapse and fade away.  We use the tiniest needles available, and the treatment is virtually painless.  Asclera is the safest medicine used for this purpose, has the lowest incidence of side effects and has been used for 40 years in Europe (it was approved for use in the U.S. in March 2010).  Treatment sessions last from 30-60 minutes.  The local value of one treatment session is $300-$350, but at Family Wellness Center we offer each treatment for $150.  Resolution of spider veins takes from 2-4 total treatments, which are done every 6 weeks.

People often ask us about the difference between sclerotherapy and laser treatment of spider veins.  The answer really depends on what kind of veins you are treating, and where they are located.  Laser is painful, and more expensive.  However, there are some parts of the body that cannot be treated with sclerotherapy, such as on the face, directly behind the knees and in some areas over the ankles.  To determine if your veins are treatable with Asclera, we are happy to offer free consultations prior to beginning treatment.
